A state of emergency has been declared for homelessness in Hawaii

The dream of an Aloha spirit with a nice life in the tropics has been dying hard more people than ever before in Hawaii due to extreme financial problems leading to homelessness. The situation has reached critical levels. Fox News reported on Oct. 18, 2015, Hawaii has declared a state of emergency in dealing with a homelessness crisis.

A state of emergency has been declared by Hawaii Governor David Ige to confront a homelessness crisis in the state. This declaration was made shortly after city and state officials cleared one of the largest homeless encampments in the United States. The move by Ige should help the state move faster on the construction of a homeless shelter for families. At a press conference Ige said there are initiatives being taken to create options for people who are homeless to move into an emergency shelter. The emergency proclamation is aimed at addressing the horrible problem of homeless families.

There has been a 23 percent increase in the unsheltered homeless population in Hawaii between 2014 and 2015. During this same time there has been a 46 percent increase in the number of families who do not have shelter. Hawaii presently has the highest rate of homelessness per-capita of any state in the United States with about 7,260 homeless people in Hawaii at this time.

Al Jazeera has also reported on the declaration of a state of emergency in Hawaii due to homelessness. An envisioned new transitional shelter would provide housing for about 15 families at a time. Crews in Hawaii have been installing converted shipping containers for the latest homeless shelter in Hawaii located on a gravel lot on Sand Island.

The homelessness situation in Hawaii where there is so much natural beauty and so much potential for a nice life is pathetic. Right alongside the homeless starving on the streets there are magnificent estates with swimming pools and ocean views and extraordinarily magnificent hotels which play up the natural beauty of the Hawaiian islands. The psychiatrists in Hawaii, as elsewhere in the United States, are largely to blame for the social injustice of tragic homelessness due to the poverty which they create and enforce in people unfortunate enough to see them as patients. As the Citizens Commission on Human Rights has highlighted often psychiatry is a highly destructive discipline which destroys the potential of people instead of nurturing their potential.

The psychiatrists are sadists and brutal quacks who are endorsed by a tragically abusive U.S. federal government and likewise abusive state governments. The psychiatrists profit greatly from the hardships they create with their diagnostic labels which are actually subjective projections of their own bigotries, enforced stigmatization, toxic drugs and associated cruel blacklists. If there were a  more enlightened mental health care system intact in Hawaii and elsewhere which promoted natural non-psychiatric approaches to mental health care aimed at nurturing human potential instead of destroying it most if not all of the homeless people in Hawaii and elsewhere would be leading healthy productive lives in nice homes of their own.
